Hands-on workshop on resin mold construction.
No requirements or experience required.

Objectives:
Acquire technical capacity in the production of molds for resins.


Who is it for:
Anyone with or without jewellery making experience wanting to learn about resin moulds production.

Programme:

Safety equipment

Introduction to silicone (theoretical)

  • Types of silicone

  • How to avoid or minimize silicone bubbles

  • Sealants / release agents

Objects (theoretical and practical)

  • Analysis of objects (model) to create molds

  • General care with the objects

Making molds (theoretical-practical)

  • Types of boxes for patterns, how to make boxes for patterns, auxiliary materials, patterns (open, closed with cuts, two parts)

  • Multi-parts with pattern (theoretical)

Post-production care and maintenance of used tools and molds (theoretical-practical)

  • Cleaning of tools and molds

  • How to minimize undesirable odors, hairs or other inclusions during the silicone curing process

  • How to discard leftover silicone

Introduction to resin for molds (theoretical)

  • Resin types to be used in the workshop: polyester, epoxy.

  • How to avoid or minimize bubbles in the resin

  • Color: types of pigments and paints

  • Simple inclusions and care

  • How to minimize odors, hairs or other unwanted inclusions during the resin curing process

  • Resin integration in precast objects with and without epoxy

  • Finishes

  • Technical solutions for integration into final parts.

Molds and production of copies from the realized molds:

  • Removing models from the different types of cured silicone molds

  • Copies with color and/or simple inclusions

  • Conservation of molds during the silicone curing

  • Cleaning of molds

  • Mould conservation

Resin finishings (practical)

  • Safety equipment

  • Tools

  • Tool cleaning

  • How to dispose of resin remnants

Integration of cured resin objects into jewelry making.
